Is Social Media Important?
The #LCTwitizens Project

What if every citizen in the Lake Charles area had the power to report news, share opinions on local items, send photos from events in the area and share ideas with the community at large?
What if every citizen with an internet conncetion or a mobile device could create a growing feed of information that could be accessed by their friends, neighbors, business owners, law enforcement, first responders, community volunteers, non-profits and government officials?
What if, almost without effort, a thousand+ citizen voices could join together, day after day, to paint a very real picture of the lake area?
This can happen right now, using the power of Twitter.
The goal of the #LCTwitizens project is very simple. We want you, a citizen of the local community, to:
- 1. Join Twitter, then...
- 2. Tweet about what's going on in your community, and...
- 3. Put the hashtag #LCTwitizens at the end of your tweet so other lake area twitizens can find the information.
Over the next 365 days, our goal is to have 1,000+ citizens feeding their news into the #LCTwitizens search feed. We've added our own term to the world of twitterspeak; "a thousand little tweets = 1 big TWOOT!"
Remember, the voice of one can sometimes get drowned out, but collected voices have power. It's this idea that drives the #LCTwitizens project.
So, join in and help us give a TWOOT!
